Our educators meet Iowa Department of Education certification standards and hold additional qualifications as nature educators. The Red Barn Schoolhouse will be a certified public charter school. The school will offer on site learning 4 days per week with day 5 dedicated to teacher curriculum and professional development.

The Red Barn Schoolhouse offers a nurturing educational sanctuary. Inquiry-based learning is intrinsically connected with the arts, nature and community. Iowa core curriculum is achieved through teacher cohorts along with artists, naturalists and first- hand community connections. Our collaborative commitment is to nurture the academic, social, emotional, and physical well-being of every unique individual under our care.

Students find themselves ensconced in the historic embrace of a meticulously renovated 1880s barn nestled in Crescent, Iowa. Outside the barn lies a verdant expanse of outdoor wonder, where students learn how to garden, learn about regenerative farming and explore the surrounding Loess Hill trails.
